The Chinese company undertook the widening project of the East Ring Road in the capital of Kenya

The expansion project of the East Ring Road in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, undertaken by China Communications Construction Co., Ltd., opened to traffic on July 31. It is reported that the newly built Nairobi East Ring Road, Nairobi South Ring Road, West Ring Road, North Ring Road and Nairobi Expressway together constitute the major road traffic skeleton of Nairobi's "one ring and one trunk", in order to relieve the traffic pressure of Nairobi city and promote the high-level development of the city play an important role.

Kenyan President Kenyatta said at the opening ceremony of the project that the road plays an important role in reducing the travel time within and around the city, and promoting the connectivity of the Nairobi metropolitan area. According to reports, the original two-lane road on Nairobi's East Ring Road was built by China Road and Bridge Engineering Co., Ltd. in 2011. After the project was completed, the towns along the line developed rapidly. In order to further ease traffic congestion and allow Huancheng Road to better serve local people, the Kenyan government will start the preparations for the East Huancheng Road widening project in September 2021.

The Nairobi East Ring Road Widening Project uses the Kenyan government's own funds. The project officially started on January 15 this year. The original two-way two-lane road on the East Ring Road in Nairobi has been widened into two-way four to six lanes. The main line is 27 kilometers long and adopts the Kenyan A-level national road standard. After the project opened to traffic, the traffic capacity along the line has been greatly improved, and the average travel time has dropped from 90 minutes to 30 minutes.
